Reading Time: < 1 minute

My book review this week is on Eric Verzuh’s book – The Fast Forward MBA in Project Management. The book, which is now out in a fifth edition, contains a number of great suggestions for project managers, as well as access to a number of templates and logs, which are available as a download from the Versatile Company website. A few takeaways include:

  • The best project managers focus on how to best deliver value to the client, or the management of the organization.
  • Success depends on the ability of the project manager to get work done through others. That includes keeping the team engaged and motivated, as well as keeping executive support.
  • While the latest edition remains relatively traditional in the Waterfall approach that it outlines, it does include new sections on Scrum and Agile thinking, as well as a greater focus on stakeholder and change management.
If you are looking for serious project management training and some valuable downloadable resources, this is a good read and worth the investment. I do think it is easier to read on paper, than in the Kindle version.
